3/14/2025 Status from Michael: I’ve wrangled two discounts for the residents of PMR. Check out that blog post here.

3/11/2025 Status from Michael: It seems as though some of you have a problem with patience especially those of you on Facebook (not that I would spend my time on there). It takes time to accomplish things. With respect to dissolving the POA this is indeed one of those instances.

Kendra and I are just now getting the turn-over from the FY2024 board. We don’t have the debit card yet since the bank insists on taking a few weeks to get that sent to us. But we do now have access to the PO box and our signature cards are approved. I’ve spent a fair amount of time today working on a drag for the road. I note that there are at least three other volunteers who have been doing a great job smoothing the gravel throughout. Having reviewed the condition of the roads, we’re doing rather better than my imagination would have suggested otherwise.

The paperwork submission for the dissolution won’t occur until the last quarter of our fiscal year. If I had submitted the paperwork with the state for the dissolution, you would read about it here. Many things need to happen before that time to include submitting the FY2023 federal and state taxes (Heather made no attempt at this), the FY2024 federal and state taxes (the last board didn’t do so because 2023 was outstanding) and finally the FY2025 federal and state taxes.

I have driven into Gallup and Grants on POA business numerous times in the past two weeks making sure that everything is taken care of. It appears that a very large percentage of the address data for parcels as provided by the county are simply incorrect.

I shall not create a Facebook account and read the kind of things people are saying or so I assume that they’re saying. You might have noticed that I am posting information here. This is your best method of getting answers. This is not high school. I expect everyone to respect their neighbors and to minimize the drama and panicking.

3/4/2025: Letter from Jerry, Treasurer from FY2024

Everyone, I wanted to thank you for your patience and support during this transition. Myself and the former directors look forward to assist the new directors/officers in FY2025. We anticipate great things for the future of Pine Meadows.

A few announcements and status from Michael… rewinding the clock to the previous year’s 4/13/2024 annual meeting I bring it to everyone’s attention that the second-to-last measure to dissolve the POA passed with an overwhelming supermajority. Incorrectly during that meeting you were informed that the measure didn’t pass and that it required a 3/4ths majority. The measure only requires a 2/3rds majority. The reality is that it passed minimally with 85% from the attending members. Here is the math in case you would like to follow along.

Members present: 65; a majority of those members: 33 minimally; Robert Yaeggi’s votes: 145 and Robert indicated that he would cast all these votes with the majority’s wishes

(33 + 145) / (65 + 145) = 0.8476 which is 85% so by either criteria (reality or made-up) the measure overwhelmingly passed since 2/3rds is 67% and 3/4ths is 75%

At this time the status of the POA is dissolved-pending-paperwork. I shall work to maintain the roads here in FY2025 but also to make sure that we’re ready to meet the needs of next year as well after the corporation has gone away. I will ensure an intelligent transition from one to the next.

To assist in that transition I have created a new website. I will be posting content almost daily to that site. The existing Squarespace hosting plan is really too expensive for what it does for us. So far, the new site will have cost us just $3.66 for the next twelve months.

What is this place?

Pine Meadow Ranches is located in the heart of Cibola County, New Mexico amidst the beauty of the picturesque "High Desert" of the Great Southwest. Close to the western edge of the Rocky Mountains, at an elevation of 7,500 ft. Abundant with amazing flora and fauna not seen anywhere else. Giant sandstone edifices span the landscape, with traces of past volcanic activity from Mt. Taylor to the northwest.  A few miles up the road, you can experience a thrilling hike around "El Morro," the famous New Mexican rock where many conquistadors, and families traveling by wagon-train alike, all signed the rock from 1605 until 1857.  You can then trek up to the top of Heshoda Yałdo:a to see where Native-American people built their homes - as high up as possible, in order to feel secure, and savor the view.  At one time, many thousands of ancestors of the Zuni, “ Ino:de:kwe”, lived in the area, and remnants of their life can be found everywhere even in Pine Meadow Ranches!  Every sunset is spectacular, with colors that change every minute! After sunset, the sky becomes a magical window where the Milky-Way is so clear and the stars so abundant , you feel immersed in the universe and fully connected to the world around you!
